Daryl Hall and John Oats, Private Eyes, album review

Can Do, Now and Then

Philly soul, blue-eyed soul, rock and soul - whatever your soul-kenning, these two produced some fine pop-soul over the years, and this album just one year into the by-and-large musically abhorrent 80s contains one of their more funky and memorable songs I Can't Go For That [No Can Do], the ungrammatical parenthesis adding an element of pseudo-cool that really is. Though it is the song, rather than the caveat. Just pop does creep in now and then, though their hooks can catch, so it is mixed. Listening now.
